When in
Sweden I had the pleasure of judging this
gorgeous boy and I pleaded with his breeder
Johnny Anderson to let me have him. Although a
little tall in height for me, Jonas excelled in
soundness and temperament and he had an
absolutely gorgeous head and expression. Jonas
was my once in a lifetime sheltie, I absolutely
adored him not just as a showdog but as a friend
and companion. He settled well into Australian
life and the showring but we just could not get
his movement right. Structurally he was superb
but he would only move fairly slowly. After
quite a few successful months in the showring
and at stud Jonas unexpectedly took ill. Despite
the best attentions of veterinarian Karen
Hedberg in Sydney, Jonas succumbed to a
pancreatic tumour, which he apparently had for
some time. Jonas was a big loss to Shelbrae not
only as a stud dog but as a mate. Although his
stud career was very short, Jonas has left behind
four champions so far including a litter
brother/sister combination as well as a soon to
be South African champion as well as his
champions in Scandinavia. We will be forever
grateful to our good friend Johnny Anderson for
allowing this wonderful sheltie to make the long
journey to oz.
